Step one

Remove all loose and flaking rust, as well as any loose paint, from the metal surface using a wire brush to ensure excellent adhesion.

Step two

Remove grease, oil and other contaminants from the metal surface using SL 502 Thinner. The surface must be clean and dry to ensure optimum adhesion of the products.

Step three

Option 1: Sand the surface thoroughly to remove all traces of rust.

Option 2: Apply RUST CONVERTER to chemically stabilise and bind the rust.

What is RUST CONVERTER?

RUST CONVERTER is a specialist water-based primer applied directly to rusted surfaces. It chemically binds and converts the rust, eliminating the need for sanding. Its active ingredients react with the rust to form a black chemical compound that stabilises it. The appearance of a black colour indicates that the rust conversion process is complete.

This conversion also creates a protective barrier that prevents further corrosion and provides highly effective treatment of rusted surfaces.

Step four

Apply the anti-corrosive primer carefully, ensuring that difficult areas and the edges of the metal surface are covered with a sufficient primer film thickness.

Step five

Apply the final coat in your preferred colour and enjoy the result.
